An engineering decision
One status everyone can trust.
Rather than free-text notes, we modelled each vehicle as an explicit state machine. A vehicle can only move forward when its checklist is complete, so the status shown to a salesperson always matches reality on the forecourt.
The same model powers listings, permissions, and the audit history — one source of truth, reused everywhere instead of reinvented per screen.
